When I heard that Ted Gibson, hairstylist to the stars, was coming out with an affordable line for Target, I was ecstatic.
I've heard his name praised on various red carpet shows, in magazines, etc...So when I spotted the product line at Target, I snached up Prosperity Body Shampoo. On the shelf, next to Prosperity was Hair Color Shampoo, Beautiful Spray, etc... I don't have color-treated hair, so Prosperity Body Shampoo it was.
When I got home, I skipped to the shower, super excited.
There I am, standing in the shower, about to pick up the shampoo & staring me in the face was Prosperity Body Shampoo.
"Body Shampoo?" "Why in the world would Ted Gibson make shower gel? -- No. It's probably shampoo for extra body, after all, it was right next to the rest of the hair products in Target," I thought.
Whatever. I put a dollop in my hand & began to wash my hair.
Before, I share my results with you, I have to say, the packaging could use a little work. The directions on the back are printed in that annoying fine print -- you know, the one usually reserved for banks trying to hide the fact that the Capital One Credit Card your about to sign up for is charging a 29.99% APR?
Yeah. That fine print.
The print was really difficult to read at 8 am with no coffee or my glasses; also, the first part of the directions looked like it was in French (a language I barely speak -- let alone read).
Anywho, I finally saw it said "Shampoo/Bodywash", fine. Done. Case closed.
When I got out of the shower & dried my hair, I had this horrible residue from Ted Gibson's Shampoo/Bodywash. Gross.
But, because of Ted's reputation, I gave it another go & the following day used the Prosperity Body Shampoo as a bodywash.
This, on the other hand, was nice. It cleaned my skin & I felt fresh as a daisy.
Secret: It was nice, but really, it was just like any other body wash.
Next up, the Body Conditioner.
Now, I've never used an in-shower body lotion/conditioner before, so this was like a little adventure for me.
According to the directions, you smooth all over your body, leave on 2-3 minutes, then rinse off.
After following these instructions, I have to say, the Body Conditioner is pretty awesome.
I followed it with my normal lotion and my skin stayed smooth all day.
Both the Body Shampoo and Conditioner retail for $14.95 for an 8 oz size, which to me, is a little pricey for glorified body wash, but they do have the travel kit available which gives 3 body shampoos and 3 body conditioners for $19.99, which will give you a more for your money!
PS: It seems that not all of the Ted Gibson products are available in Target stores, some seem to only be available only online.
Overall, it was decent - a bit of a headache; but, whatever you do - do not use this in your hair!
