Finding the right salon is like finding the perfect shoe, once you have it, you really don't want to let it go.
I have lived in NYC for over 2 yrs now and have kept flitting from one salon to another, none them being the 'right' fit. They were either way out of my price range, didn't have enough knowledge, or eff'ed up my hair.
I decided to give it another whirl (I mean, what was I going to do, I was desperate for a cut), I chose Salon Ziba.
When I walked in, the salon had a very tranquil vibe; which is way appreciated after the hustle & bustle of some of the other salon's I've visited over the past 2 yrs.
I was quickly greeted by Nim, who worked the front desk.
He walked me over to the coat check where they took my coat and gave me my robe; Nim then took me upstairs to the Color Station and I was introduced to my colorist, Margarita.
We looked through the color book and after some discussing she whipped up a mix of Chocolate & Dark brown colors that will bring out both the red and golden undertones in my hair.
After the normal color application, hitting under the drier, etc... I was whisked away to what had to be the most comfortable washing chair: Lay-Z-Boy with a sink attached (it even had a foot rest!), where I got my color scrubbed out and had a great relaxing shampoo.
After the color & wash, I was taken over to my stylist, Maribella.
We chatted about what I wanted:
*Bangs trimmed
*Overall hair to fall about shoulder length
*Layers to help the fullness of my face look slimmer
Needless to say, Maribella did a fantastic job: everything was cut with skill and even before my hair was blown-out and styled, it looked great.
The salon experience was worthwhile; but, I think the best feature of Salon Ziba is their price points.
They have the look and feel of a high end salon without the guilt-inducing costs.
Haircuts:
$35-$60 for a Stylist
$53 - $130 for a Master.
Single Process Hair Color:
$65 - $85 for a Stylist
$65 - $110 for a Master.
P.S.: Did I mention they also have a corporate discount program, it can earn you and your office a 15% savings. Bargain.
