December 2009 Archives

AlexaBagMulberry.jpgInstead of buying some sparkle chola dress for NYE, I am opting to save my champagne and pool party money for the new Alexa bag by Mulberry.

Mulberry is the working class Hermes' but still not cheap.

Love Alexa Chung (best dressed lady 2009 according to Anna and Andre') love the bag...loathe the pricetag.

Alexa bag by Mulberry = $1250. (I'll be purchasing this pink leopard one.)

My new years resolution, you ask?

Marry Rich!.

GypsetStyle.jpgIf your life is like mine, sometimes it can feel more like a world tour sponsored by Live Nation then a normal 20 something existence. My flyer miles are high along with the number of travel wardrobe mistakes I have made. So if you're lucky enough to get away from DVR and JOB this winter: Listen Up!

Packing:

Only bring things you love and you know look hot ...2 outfit max per day
Lay out the outfits down to the earrings on your bed (channel Cher Horowitz if you have to, and get a Polaroid) . Whether on biz or playtime there is no need to waste time figuring out what looks good with what, there are cute boys to meet and happy hours to attend.

Make a list of the outfits to correspond with days away. I know this is my O.C.D speaking but it saves time and since you packed only things you love there is no ensemble better than any other (ex: Friday skinny jeans and blazer, Friday night LBD and metallic shoes.)

Chances are where you are headed, capitalism is alive and well, so you can buy a top or shoes if things get crazy. Who hasn't bought a fashion item in the city you have traveled to? If you are going to Africa or someplace bananas talk to Michelle (new GC travel writer). (ed note: Shameless unadulterated edit plug? Oh yes. Purr.)

Airport:

Look ferocious. Try to be as much Victoria Becks as you can. Big Sunglasses, black jersey clothes, some thick cashmere wrap. Be that girl who turns heads when you roll up late to the gate! Also, no dieting on the plane. Eat whatever they throw at you! More terra blue chips and cookies in first class! Screw it! If fate should have it that the trip is your last, imagine how pissed you would be at heaven's gate knowing the last thing you ate wasn't a carb!

HomemadeBananaIceCream.jpgWhat girl does not love ice cream!?!?!

Seriously, whether we have had a good day or a horrible one, I think we would all be happy if it ended with ice cream.

But of course, we all don't want our insides OR outsides to look like all we do is eat ice cream. That is why you have to try my "Banana Ice Cream Love"! It's cold and creamy; yet, all it is has in it is frozen bananas. So even if you get lost finding your way to the kitchen this is still an easy one to whip up! All you need to do is make sure to keep bananas in the freezer (peeled) and have a blender.

Plus there are so many additions and toppings to play around with that you will never get bored with it either.

Banana Ice Cream Love

1-2 frozen bananas per person serving
any toppings or additions you want to add

Take the bananas and blend away in your Vita-mix, Blend-tec, blender or food processor until smooth.

Suggested Topping or Add-Ins

-Add Peanut butter or any nut butter to make a Nutty Ice Cream
-Add in Cocoa Nibs or Chocolate Chips and we get amazing Chocolate Chip Ice cream, chocolate and ice cream :)
-Drizzle any kind of chocolate or caramel sauce on top! My favorite is ChocoAgave!
-Top with Goji berries or any dried fruit pieces for a great chewy taste
-Add other berries in the mixture to make Strawberry, Blueberry or any berry Ice Cream
-Add cocoa powder to make Chocolate Ice Cream

Enjoy!

The possibilities are endless! If you have other great ideas or experiments please share them :)

Well, good news. I didn't have a freak reaction to the anesthesia and die on the operating table. (Thanks to my fantastic anesthesiologist, Dr. Garland!)
I am alive (and kicking!). Literally. As soon as I woke up on the table I somehow managed to kick my shoe off.

NoseJobAttorney.jpg

So let's back up...

Morning of the surgery: Rolled out of bed at the crack-ass of dawn (6am - hey, this is early for me), popped my prescribed Zofran (anti-nausea med) and Sin-Ecch (a homeopathic "surgical recovery regimen" to reduce pain, bruising and swelling post-surgery. I'll be taking these for the next 3 days as well). Woke my roommate up (designated caretaker - love you Peeps!), and off we went to the office of Dr. Miller to get this shiz, er, shnoz, done. We arrived right at 7:30, my scheduled surgery time. Sat for 30 minutes (the girl before me must have had an even bigger nose than me), when I was finally instructed to get changed into surgical garb. The roomie and I sat in the prep room as the nurse, Adina, came in to ask the usual questions - pressing medical history? No. Smoker? No. Drugs? No. Alchohol? No. I hope that Bailey's and Kahlua I put in my hot cocoa last night doesn't count...

Next came Dr. Miller to go over one final time exactly what he was going to do. Smooth out the bump, take the profile down, move the sides in, level the tip. Piece of cake.

Lastly came the anesthesiologist, Dr. Garland. I must say I'm a fan. Not only did he put me completely at ease with the anesthesia process (haha - literally), but he also told me I have "Drew Barrymore" eyes. To which I replied, Well, I'll look even MORE like her with my new nose! tee-hee.

MilaniNails.jpgAhh, The Holidays...

That special time a year where you find yourself running around party-hopping, last minute shopping, and making sure you are properly primped while take over the world.

And lets face it girls (and guys) nothing ruins a look more than horrid looking nails.

You know what I'm talking about: You spend 20-35 mins gets your nails to the glossy best, only to see them chipped and cracked a few days later.

Well, I was very surprised when that DIDN'T happen to me, using Milani's Nail Laquer.
(Yes, Milani, as in the cheapee drugstore find.)

Last week, I was getting ready to make the 3 hour treck to Washington D.C. for Thanksgiving & one of the must-do's was a mani.

Instead of picking a color at the local salon I brought my own, "Ms. Milani", a very pretty metallic sliver, perfect for the Holiday season.

After successfully making it through the first of the family get-togethers, I noticed that after 4 (almost 5) days later, there was not a chip in site. My Nails still looked pretty damn awesome.

Even better, after DC, I made a pit-stop over in my hometown Billings, M.T. (that's Montana for all of you born & raised N.Y.ers) While visiting the homestead a few of my cousins and sisters where raving about my nail color & we ended up busting out both the "Ms. Milani" and "Garnet Gems" and doing a little mani session in my Grandparents kitchen!

It's crazy cheap @ $4.50, which is half the price (and just as good as) Essie.

McDonaldsFreeInternet.jpgIf you live in the city & can't afford a wireless card; then you know how annoying it is to get online from remote locations.

According to (dare-we-say-it) mainstream Trashionista, Perez Hilton, McDonald's will be offering free wireless internet in 2010.

Apparently, McDonald's offered internet at select locations in the past, for $2.95 every two hours (who knew?)

And, hello, SBUX get with program. (SBUX offers 2 free hours of AT&T wireless per day only if you have a registered SBUX card. Bite me.)

More reasons to love the golden arches!

Oink oink.
