The day before my trip to Costa Rica, I ran out of my Clinique Lash Doubling mascara . I've been using it for quite sometime now; have a minor aversion to change, and more importantly, have sensitive, dry eyes, so to date, this has been my everyday mascara.
(Tangent: For special occasions I always change my mascara like a quirkpot; ie: this past Christmas I was all over Estee Lauders Sumptuous Color, Bold Volume in Emerald - amazing.)
So, it's about 6pm the night before CR and no more mascara. I was feeling cheap & lazy, so I could'nt be bother to schelp to Sephora to buy Clinique, so in a mad dash, I ran into Duane Reade & grabbed Maybelline's Collosal Volum' Express.
I haven't bought a drug store mascara since Maybelline's Great Lash (which I always have in stock in my makeup closet) and to be honest, I wasn't hesitant to buy Colossal; I was had pre-vaca jitters leaving me nervous + excited = in a fog.
I knew I wanted a jet black mascara, definitely waterproof (so I can sweat it out in the rainforest w/o having raccoon eyes), and something that would make my lashes long & thick.
The bright hot yellow tube beamed at me like a traffic light, and for $9 I couldn't go wrong.
I bought Colossal Volum' Express Mascara in Glam Black, Waterproof.
It's a great score.
It has a thick, heady brush that didn't clump (even when tossed in my bag when the temp was about 100). The mascara made my lashes long & bushy, in a sharp jet black.
The mascara didn't flake off my lashes, stayed on for 12+ hours & was overall a very stellar drugstore purchase.
The only issue I had?
It was very difficult to wash off.
I tried bar soap and a couple of random make-up remover cloths I had at the bottom of my bag. The only thing that took the mascara completely off was Dermalogica's Precleanse, which I'm convinced would wash tar off your face if need be.
I've been back for almost a week now, and I'm still using the Colossal.
